Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using the Chocolatey Scripts website, repository, or any scripts provided therein ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

These Terms apply specifically to Chocolatey Scripts, a project by CodeCraftedApps, and are separate from the terms of other CodeCraftedApps projects.

Description of Service

Chocolatey Scripts is a collection of open-source PowerShell scripts designed to help users manage the Chocolatey package manager on Windows systems. The Service includes:

  • PowerShell scripts for installing, updating, and maintaining Chocolatey packages
  • Configuration files and documentation
  • This website and its content
  • The associated GitHub repository

Open Source License

The scripts and source code are released under the MIT License. You are free to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and/or sell copies of the software, subject to the conditions of the MIT License. The full license text is available in the LICENSE file.

Use at Your Own Risk

These scripts interact with your Windows operating system and installed software. By using these scripts, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • System modifications: The scripts may modify PowerShell execution policies, install or remove software packages, create scheduled tasks, modify system configurations, and create files and directories on your system.
  • Administrator access: Most scripts require administrator privileges and can make system-wide changes.
  • Your responsibility: You are solely responsible for reviewing and understanding each script before executing it. You should test scripts in a non-production environment first.
  • No guarantee: We do not guarantee that the scripts will work on every system configuration, or that they will not cause unintended effects.
  • Data loss: While scripts are designed to be safe, any script that modifies system settings carries inherent risk. We recommend creating system restore points and backups before running scripts.

  • The scripts will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free
  • The results from using the scripts will be accurate or reliable
  • Any errors in the scripts will be corrected

The scripts interact with third-party software and services, including but not limited to:

  • Chocolatey - Subject to its own license and terms
  • Software packages - Each package installed via Chocolatey has its own license and terms
  • GitHub - Subject to GitHub's Terms of Service

We are not responsible for the functionality, security, or terms of any third-party software installed by these scripts. You are responsible for complying with all applicable licenses for software installed on your system.

  • Your contributions will be licensed under the same MIT License as the project
  • You have the right to submit such contributions
  • Your contributions do not infringe on any third-party rights

Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the modified Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
