This Privacy Policy describes how Chocolatey Scripts ("we", "us", or "our"), a project by CodeCraftedApps, handles information in connection with the scripts and tools available through this website and the associated GitHub repository at github.com/DJCastle/chocolateyScripts.

Information We Do Not Collect

Chocolatey Scripts is a collection of open-source PowerShell scripts that run entirely on your local machine. We want to be clear about what we do not do:

  • We do not collect, transmit, or store any personal data
  • We do not include analytics, tracking pixels, or telemetry in our scripts
  • We do not access, read, or transmit your system information
  • We do not collect information about which packages you install or update
  • We do not have access to any data generated by the scripts on your machine

What the Scripts Do Locally

When you run our scripts on your computer, they may:

  • Create log files in your local %USERPROFILE%\Logs\ directory. These logs stay on your machine and are never transmitted to us.
  • Create backup files in your local %USERPROFILE%\Documents\ChocolateyBackups\ directory. These backups contain your installed package list and remain on your machine.
  • Check network status (WiFi name, power status) to determine whether to proceed with updates. This information is used locally and never transmitted.
  • Interact with Chocolatey to install, update, or remove packages. These interactions are between your machine and the Chocolatey package repository.

Optional Email Notifications

The auto-update script includes an optional email notification feature. If you choose to enable this feature:

  • You provide your own email address and SMTP credentials in the configuration file
  • Emails are sent directly from your machine using your SMTP server
  • We never see, store, or have access to your email credentials or notification content
  • This feature is disabled by default

This Website

This website (chocolateyscripts.codecraftedapps.com) is hosted on GitHub Pages. When you visit this website:

  • GitHub Pages may collect standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) in accordance with GitHub's Privacy Statement
  • Google Fonts are loaded from Google's CDN, which may involve Google collecting basic connection data in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy
  • jsDelivr CDN is used to load the scripts manifest, which may involve jsDelivr collecting basic connection data in accordance with jsDelivr's Privacy Policy

  • Google Analytics (GA4): We use Google Analytics 4 to collect anonymized website usage data such as page views, session duration, traffic sources, and general geographic region.
